A new vision for CRMs
22/07/2024
MIN
You don’t enjoy using your CRM.
You’ve spent years procrastinating over putting data into the platform and racking your brains to understand why no one wants to use the expensive CRM you spent 4 months implementing.
You may have gone to countless webinars, waited patiently for support to email you back, or tried in vain to navigate these complex, convoluted platforms yourself. You may have found yourself in WhatsApp groups asking for someone to help figure using that cool feature. Perhaps you were sold on a slick demo but once you got your hands on the system, it didn’t work like it promised to work.
Your recruitment platform is little more than a big excel sheet. Where entering data is close to a full time job, leaving you with little time to actually use that data.
Otherwise, why would you be reading this?
Recruitment is conversation
Your day consists of communication. Communication with clients, with candidates, with potential clients, with your team. Emails, video calls, phone calls, messaging systems, information is being fired at you from all different places and all of it has value.
Your CRM only collects structured data. Enter the salary please, enter the preferences please. However, your entire day consists of unstructured data. Emails, phone calls, messages. And it has been your job since 1999 to manually turn that unstructured data into structured data.
All that horrible work you have to do so the data has some ‘unspecified value’ later down the line.
The Generative AI revolution
GPT-3 was released in June 2020 and since that time we’ve watch this fledgling technology quickly grow into what is clearly the biggest technological evolution since the internet.
The guys at Attio outlined the two true capabilities that generative AI has:
- Converting unstructured data into structured data. LLMs can take all the unstructured data we generate (like emails, messages, videos and phone calls) and turn it into structured data that’s easy to work with, like categories, summaries or action items. In other words, they can take the way humans naturally communicate and make it useful for automation, insights, and reporting.
- Reversing structured data into unstructured output. Conversely, LLMs can also take structured data and turn it into natural language. They can use structured data to respond to questions, summarize complex data, records or even draft emails and messages.
You already use a CRM. And that CRM has had two years to offer you generative AI features. Yet all their efforts have focused on the second part, turning structured data into an unstructured output. They can help you write a distinctly average email or pitch.
Our vision
Atlas is the only recruitment platform that has been developed after the creation of Generative AI . While most recruitment platforms are figuring out how to awkwardly crowbar a little bit of AI into some part of the system, we’re taking a different path.
What should recruitment software look like?
It’s not an ATS or a CRM, but a Intelligent Business Platform. Software that makes you perform 10x better than you could on your own by removing all your low value tasks, acting as your perfect memory and providing highly relevant recommendations to impact your performance.
At this point, you’re probably thinking whats possible. While we don’t want to spoil the surprise and give away our entire roadmap, let me tell you about two features that Atlas will make possible.
- The creation of a digital avatar for all of your clients. With all those intakes and catch up meetings recorded and those 100 back-and-forth emails giving feedback on candidates, Atlas has already created virtual avatars of all your clients. Shortly, we will leverage these avatars over different parts of your work flow. This means that before you send a candidate, you can effectively ask the virtual version of your client if they’ll like the candidate and how to present that client for their benefit.
- Automated rejection data. Wouldn’t it be great if you stored all the reasons for rejecting those 82 candidates so you could present a really powerful set of data to a client? It’s totally possible but takes continued effort and numerous hours to add the extra detail. As Atlas knows everything you know, it will automatically figure out the core reasons for rejecting candidates and instantaneously provide graph data that will make you stand out with your clients.
Our principles
- Your memory isn’t perfect. So Atlas remembers everything for you.
- Accept that data entry won’t be done. Automate all of it.
- Software that requires a webinar is too complex to use.
- Software needs to be as fast as the users. No load times.
- Each feature should be done properly. Or not at all.
Your memory isn’t perfect. So Atlas remembers everything for you.
You have so many conversations every day, with so many people. By the time you wake up the next morning, how much have you honestly remembered? And that’s just one day.
We can furiously type notes and scroll through copious amounts of notes but is this really an enjoyable user experience? Does it really perfect your recall?
Fortunately, there is a solution. Every type of communication can be captured, ingested by intelligent AI and provided back to you at the point of need. What does this look like with Atlas?
- Full AI notes for every interview and client meeting that you do.
- Important information (like salary) is automatically extracted and presented at the top of someone’s profile.
- Candidates who inform you that they are looking for work at tagged as such.
- A resume sent to your inbox is automatically, uploaded and enriched, making it totally searchable.
- Searching by keyword gives you context of why that keyword is linked to that person.
- And 100 other ways….
Accept that data entry won’t be done. Automate all of it.
“We’ve got a fantastic search system” – every Recruitment CRM salesperson.
But what if you don’t tag everything manually? Then it doesn’t work.
AI is much more than just writing funny poems about candidates. It can solve problems that have been pervasive for 20 years! The biggest of those is data entry.
You won’t ever have to ask if candidates have been tagged and coded. Atlas does that for you. It also takes care of your people database, tagging companies, candidates, prospects, spam and ensuring you only see what you need to see.
And automation goes far beyond candidates. Every single feature has a degree of generative AI built in to ensure you never have to do the jobs you don’t enjoy doing.
The example below shows how Atlas is already taking resumes and converting them into reach, fully mapped datasets with no human interaction.
Software that requires a webinar is too complex to use.
Good software is simple to us. The recruitment industry has forgotten that.
Some well known platforms are guilty of having over 100 buttons to press on one screen. Others hide new features in weird locations, expecting you to just know where it is.
We believe that user experience is more important than shiny new features. We believe that every feature should be implemented 100%. You are only as good as your worst feature.
- Every feature is where you expect it’s going to be
- We care deeply about the fewest possible clicks to complete an action
- Our customer support is human augmented with AI. You don’t need to search through reams of helpdesk pages; just tell us what you’re struggling with and the answer will be given.
Software needs to be as fast as the users. No load times.
Your CRM is F£$*!ing slow. Over time, you’ve probably just accepted that software isn’t very fast.
Our platform is built from scratch using the technology of tomorrow. It’s the only platform thats built around generative AI (as opposed to an awkward sprinkling of AI over a particular feature).
It also uses modern coding languages to provide users with a blazingly fast experience that will make it impossible to use the old stuff again.
Each feature should be done properly. Or not at all.
We don’t chase shiny objects. We don’t build minimum viable features.
We believe you’re only as good as your worst feature. Everything we build is considered and built to be the best in its class.
We won’t touch anything that we cannot improve upon. A case in point is external candidate sourcing platforms. Linkedin offers a superior candidate sourcing experience to the sourcing platforms that some ATS/CRMs have built. We don’t want our customers to have to spend twice the amount of time sourcing (first on our platform, then on Linkedin).
This is luxury software!
A little about me
I’m Jordan, the co-founder of Atlas. (Thanks for reading so far, not a single bit of ChatGPT was used 😉 )
I’ve not been in recruitment for very long at all! The first company I founded was proSapient, which is an expert network, which I managed to build to $40m in revenues in 5 years. Today the company has over 300 people and offices in Canada, Portugal, Ukraine, and the UK.
The expert network industry has a lot of similarities to recruitment. A typical project would involve a private equity firm looking to speak to former employees of a company they wanted to invest in. An expert network’s job is to find those employees, qualify their knowledge and organise one hour consulting calls with the client.
In other words, the first half of the job is quite similar.
My core role was to build the underlying software platform that made our associates more productive. An end-to-end platform that allowed them to make 40% more revenue per person than our closest competitors! We first started building on Generative AI when GPT-2 was out. It was clear to us then that this technology was fundamentally going to change communication-intensive industries.
And after a lot of conversations, there was one industry that stood to be the biggest beneficiary of this technology. Recruitment.
I hope you have as much fun using Atlas as I have had making it!
